Death Is Not the End | John 11

In this deeply moving sermon from John 11, we walk through one of the most powerful moments in the ministry of Jesus—the death and resurrection of Lazarus. But beneath the miracle lies an even greater story: Jesus preparing to face His own death in order to conquer ours. This message explores how Jesus responds to grief with compassion, anger at death, tears for the brokenhearted, and words of eternal hope. When Martha and Mary cry, “Lord, if You had been here…,” Jesus answers with one of the greatest declarations in Scripture: “I am the resurrection and the life.” This sermon reminds us that death is not the final word for those who trust in Christ. Jesus enters our pain, walks with us in grief, weeps with us in loss, and assures us that what feels like an ending is only a comma in the story of eternity. Through Lazarus, we see a preview of Christ’s ultimate victory over death, and through the cross and resurrection, we find the hope that every believer holds onto: because Jesus conquered the grave, death is no longer the end—it is the doorway to everlasting life. This message is for anyone facing loss, grief, fear, or questions about mortality, pointing us back to the Savior who stands over the grave and says, “Come out.”
