Healed, Cleansed and Restored
In this powerful sermon from Luke 17:11–19, we explore the incredible story of Jesus healing the ten lepers—and the one Samaritan who returned to worship Him. But this message goes far beyond physical healing. Through the miracle, we discover a breathtaking connection between the Old Testament cleansing rituals in Leviticus and the ultimate reality found in Jesus Christ. Leprosy becomes a picture of humanity’s spiritual condition: separated, unclean, isolated, and dying because of sin. Yet Jesus, the true High Priest, comes out to the outcasts, heals the broken, and restores people completely. This sermon unpacks the rich symbolism of the Old Testament—the birds, the blood, the hyssop, the wood, the cleansing water, and the eighth day—and reveals how every shadow ultimately points to Jesus. While nine lepers returned to religion and ritual, one recognized the true source of healing and fell at Jesus’ feet in worship. This message is a call to move beyond religion, beyond ritual, and beyond distant spirituality into a real encounter with Christ Himself. Jesus is the reality the entire Bible points toward: our healer, our sacrifice, our cleansing, our restoration, and our salvation.
