Our Outline Of

O Evangelho

Concept #1, Sin:

As a result of the fall, every human being has a sinful nature and doesn’t measure up. God has a problem with me because I do not measure up to His perfect standard. Although God created humans good and in His own image, I have repeatedly broken the law by committing crimes against Him and others in my thoughts, words and deeds. I have a natural tendency to hate God and my neighbor.

Concept #2, God’s Nature:

God is righteous and just. This results in my punishment, namely death. God is righteous and perfect. My sin is a barrier to His embrace.
God is just and must punish me for every sin I have committed or will commit. The punishment is death, the eternal punishment of body and soul.

Concept #3, Good works won’t work:

Não há nada que eu possa fazer para me tornar aceitável a Deus, não importa o quanto eu tente ou o quão religioso eu me torne. Na verdade eu aumento minha culpa a cada dia.

Concept #1, God’s Nature:

God is loving and merciful, so He provided a substitute. In His love God provided a substitute, someone to take the punishment for me. No other creature could accomplish this work, so God the Father sent God the Son to be this substitute.

Concept #2, Christ’s Nature:

Jesus is the perfect substitute. Truly human and truly righteous: Jesus was fully human and lived a sinless life. Human nature, which has sinned, must pay for its sin. A sinner could never pay for another sinner. Only by the power of His divinity could Christ bear the weight of God’s anger.

Concept #3 Christ Died and Rose Again:

God put my sins on Jesus and punished Him in my place at the cross. Jesus died and was buried. On the third day he rose from the dead, proving that my two enemies: sin and death, have been completely overcome. This guarantees my glorious resurrection.

Concept #1, Jesus invites me to new life through repentance and conversion:

Jesus offers me forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life. Through the Spirit’s work and by true faith I trust in Him and receive these gifts. Jesus saves me from sin and eternal condemnation to a new life lived with and for Him.

Concept #2 A New Mission: I am equipped by the Holy Spirit to do good works.

Christ by His Spirit is renewing me to be like Himself so that: by my living I show that I am thankful to God and praise Him, by good works I am assured of my faith by its fruits, and so that others may be won over to Christ.

Church History Tree

The history of the Christian Church from 100 AD to the present is a story of growth, division, reform, and global expansion, with the church serving as God’s ongoing mission to transform the world. Sunlight Community Church, part of this broader Christian family tree, began as a small church plant in Port St. Lucie, FL, in 1990. Over time, it has grown into six church campuses and five schools. Sunlight seeks to know Jesus, make Jesus known, and live a Jesus-centered life. The church prioritizes discipleship, spiritual growth through public Scripture reading, leadership in planting churches and ministries, and fostering community. Sunlight embraces its role within God’s family, uniting members across campuses to impact the world. You can explore more information about our Church History Tree below!

The Breakdown

Preparing your testimony

In our New Members Class, you’ll be asked to prepare a brief testimony to share. We understand this can feel intimidating, but don’t worry! We’ve provided a breakdown of some helpful steps below to guide you through the process and make it easier for you to share your story with confidence.

Before

Simply tell what your life was like before you surrendered to Christ. What were you searching for before coming to Christ? What was the key problem, emotion, situation, or attitude you were dealing with? What motivated you? What were your actions? How did you try to satisfy your needs? (Examples of inner needs are loneliness, fear of death, insecurity. Possible ways to fill those needs include work, money, drugs, relationships, sports, sex.)

How

How were you connected to Christ? Simply tell the events and circumstances that caused you to consider Christ as the solution to your searching. Take time to identify the steps that brought you to the point of trusting Christ. Where were you? What was happening at the time? What people or problems influenced your decision?

Since

How has your life in Christ made a difference? how has His forgiveness impacted you? How have your thoughts, attitudes, and emotions changed? Share how Christ is meeting your needs and what a relationship with Him means to you now.
